About the data

All data comes from free, first-hand public filings. Livermore does not copy data from other websites.

• Insider trades: Form 4 and amended Form 4/A filings on SEC EDGAR.
• Institutional holdings: Form 13F-HR and amended 13F-HR/A filings on SEC EDGAR.
• Tickers and exchanges: the SEC's list of company tickers, refreshed daily. Companies are identified by their SEC CIK number; tickers are matched again every day because they can change or be reused.
• Industry: the SIC industry code each company registers with the SEC.

Every night, after the SEC publishes its daily index of filings, Livermore collects that day's filings, starting at about 11:40 pm Eastern Time. New filings usually appear on the site the same night.

This is not real-time data. A filing that arrives after the SEC's daily index is built may not appear until the following night.

• Form 4 is due two business days after a trade, so insider data trails the actual trade by up to two business days, and longer when a filing is late.
• 13F shows holdings on the last day of each quarter and is filed up to 45 days later. It covers only long positions in 13(f) securities, so it is not a complete portfolio.
• 13F identifies securities by CUSIP, not by ticker. Livermore matches CUSIPs to tickers using several sources; holdings that can't be matched are shown with their CUSIP and the name given in the filing.
• Numbers are shown as filed. Livermore doesn't adjust for stock splits or convert between ADSs and ordinary shares; the security title from the filing is shown so you can tell them apart.
• Amended filings are taken into account: a Form 4/A replaces the original in totals, and 13F amendments are applied in the order they were filed.
• Values that look like filing errors, such as an implausible price, are kept as filed rather than silently removed.
• Livermore has no stock price data. The only prices shown come from the filings themselves: the transaction price on Form 4, and value divided by shares on 13F.
